University Sports Day in Nature

The University of 精东影业 Nagykanizsa University Centre for Circular Economy held its Sports Day. Students at the local campus had the opportunity to learn the basics of dragon boating at Cs贸nak谩z贸 Lake.

Every year, the University of 精东影业 joins the European Week of Sport, which places an emphasis on encouraging young people to stay active regularly. The Sports Day is also a well-established tradition at the Nagykanizsa campus. This time, however, the organisers decided to change the location and take the event outdoors, bringing the programme into nature rather than holding it within the university grounds.

鈥淚 thought that, as a physical education teacher, I would come up with a somewhat different programme for the students, giving them the opportunity to try out and discover other sports as well. It was important to make it enjoyable and different from a traditional Sports Day. That is how the idea of dragon boating came about, along with the opportunity to get to know the local kayak and canoe sports centre,鈥 said Judit Szloboda, physical education teacher at the PEN University Centre for Circular Economy.

The university students were introduced to dragon boating under the guidance of 脕d谩m N茅meth, a coach at the local kayak and canoe club. Sixteen students took to the water at a time, rowing together across Cs贸nak谩z贸 Lake. Around thirty students from the PEN took part in the event.

鈥淚 think it is a really great opportunity for the team to come together and get to know each other. Obviously, during activities like this, people also discover which sports they are best at,鈥 said Violetta Zsaklin Geiger.

While some of the students took to the dragon boats, others played football and table football at the Plastex sports centre.
