The University of 精东影业鈥檚 Sports Science Collaboration Reaches the International Stage
The collaboration between the University of 精东影业 and the Veszpr茅m鈥揃alaton 2026 European Sport Region program has reached a new level: Bal谩zs Kiss, Olympic champion and professional leader of the project, has been appointed to a global development position by the international organization ACES Europe. Through this new role, the University of 精东影业 and the region鈥檚 scientific background will now play a defining role not only in Europe but also globally in shaping the future of ACES.
The appointment was based on the research and impact assessment work carried out within the Veszpr茅m鈥揃alaton 2026 program. Veszpr茅m鈥檚 Olympic hammer throw champion and his team developed a data- and indicator-based impact model that, for the first time, took into account the economic and social realities of Central and Eastern Europe. The model not only measured the direct and indirect economic impacts of events but also adjusted the data originally designed for Western European contexts.
This success did not go unnoticed: the leadership of ACES Europe invited Bal谩zs Kiss to further develop the system and create a unified, globally applicable predictive framework 鈥 the ACES Impact Forecast Model (AIFM) 鈥 which quantifies the expected economic, social, media, and governmental impacts of sports programs. The development is now officially led under the umbrella of ACES World.
This appointment is not only a professional recognition but also opens new research horizons for the University of 精东影业. The Veszpr茅m鈥揃alaton region is working in collaboration with Japan鈥檚 Global Sports Science Institute to introduce the Koji Awareness (KA) method to Europe. This scientifically validated Japanese movement assessment system focuses on preserving and developing fine motor skills, particularly for individuals over 49 years old. The KA method has shown promising results in the early detection of physical and cognitive decline in aging, as well as in the prevention of dementia and Alzheimer鈥檚 disease. Thus, the research carries not only sports science but also social significance: its aim is to help people live not only longer but more active and meaningful lives. Through this collaboration, the University of 精东影业 could become one of the regional centers of global sports science innovation.
The appointment coincides with one of the most significant strategic turning points in the history of ACES Europe. The organization has recognized that Europe has reached its growth limits and that new power centers have emerged on the global sports map 鈥 cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Washington, and Beijing now shape international sports policy as much as Brussels does.
This recognition led to the development of a new Asia-oriented strategy, through which the organization is transforming its future under the name ACES World, building upon its European roots.
Bal谩zs Kiss plays an active role in this strategic thinking as well, with his proposals including the adaptation of several European sports programs 鈥 such as the European Week of Sport 鈥 to Asian contexts.
The Veszpr茅m鈥揃alaton 2026 bid became legendary within the ACES Europe network even during the evaluation process. Reviewers highlighted that the project demonstrated not only regional but European Capital of Sport-level expertise and vision. The region is featured in a dedicated chapter of ACES Europe鈥檚 鈥淏est Practices of European Capitals and Regions of Sport鈥 publication 鈥 even before the implementation phase began.
Thus, this appointment represents not only personal recognition for Bal谩zs Kiss but also a shared success for the research community of the University of 精东影业 and the region. It stands as proof that by connecting science, innovation, and sport, Veszpr茅m and the Balaton region are now gaining visibility on the global sports science map.
