The DOSZ Ambassador System, established by the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates (DOSZ), aims to strengthen the internationalization of doctoral education in Hungary by building connections between young researchers from around the world. The initiative brings together international PhD candidates studying at Hungarian universities and empowers them to support their fellow researchers, foster intercultural dialogue, and promote scientific cooperation.

As DOSZ Ambassadors, Hanan and Thomas will help represent doctoral students from their respective countries, contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive academic environment, and strengthen ties between Hungary and their home nations. Ambassadors work closely with universities, embassies, scientific institutions, and cultural organizations to organize cultural and scientific events, encourage international collaboration, and build meaningful professional networks.

The DOSZ Ambassador System focuses on issues particularly relevant to international doctoral candidates, including academic integrity, language barriers, mental health and well-being, cultural adaptation, and the Stipendium Hungaricum programme. Through trainings, workshops, and community-building initiatives, ambassadors play an important role in ensuring that international PhD students feel supported throughout their academic journey in Hungary.

The selection process for the ambassadorial positions was highly competitive, with candidates evaluated on their motivation, communication skills, community-building experience, and commitment to strengthening international scientific cooperation.

We congratulate Hanan Namrouti and Thomas Onumah on this remarkable achievement. Their appointment is a testament to their dedication, leadership, and commitment to fostering an open and internationally connected research community.

We wish them every success in their ambassadorial roles and look forward to seeing the positive impact of their work within both the Hungarian and international doctoral communities.
