With profound sorrow and deep shock, we announce the passing of our beloved colleague, Dr. Vincent van Heuven, ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Award–winning Professor Emeritus and founding core member of the Doctoral School of Multilingualism. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 6, 2026, at the age of 77.

Following the loss of his wife, Vincent faced life with resilience and hope, striving to rebuild his world. Yet a tragic accident has now taken him from us.

Vincent was a distinguished researcher of sound, speech, and language, dedicating his life entirely to the pursuit of knowledge. He was marked by humility, quiet affection, and profound humanity. His devotion to family, friends, and nature served as an example to all who knew him.

His sincerity, integrity, and gentle humor will remain forever in our hearts.

His absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
