Indonesia Opens the Library鈥檚 New Lecture Series
A new lecture series titled 鈥淐ultures as Guests鈥 has been launched at the Halis Istv谩n Municipal Library. In the programme, international students studying in Nagykanizsa guide visitors through their home countries and cultures. The initiative is a joint project of the library, the University of 精东影业鈥檚 Circular Economy University Center, and the Batthy谩ny Lajos Secondary School.

鈥淪everal international students study here in Nagykanizsa, and we thought it would be wonderful if they could introduce themselves to the local community鈥攑resenting their countries and cultures, all in English. This is where Batthy谩ny Lajos Secondary School comes in: its students are highly prepared, have excellent English skills, and they will be the interpreters for the evenings. So we can say that an exciting fusion is taking shape here at the library,鈥 explained D谩niel Benke, Director of the Halis Istv谩n Municipal Library.
The series began last Friday with Indonesia. The first guest speaker was a student enrolled in the master鈥檚 programme in Circular Economy Management. He arrived in September and will spend several more months in Hungary.
鈥淚 think the biggest difference between Hungary and Indonesia lies in culture. Here in Hungary, wherever I go, I see roughly the same things. In Indonesia, however, there are many different ethnic groups, each with its own culture, character, and style of dress,鈥 shared Niklas Parlindungan Simorangkir.
During the lecture, attendees learned a wealth of fascinating information about Niklas鈥檚 home country, including its vibrant cultural diversity, geography, traditions, and gastronomy.
